The Post-Birthday Post
Another year has passed and now I am another year older, 27 years old to be exact. Damn, I am old. I am a 27 year old boy.
The long weekend build up to the birthday was pretty crazy but sadly the birthday itself was pretty normal. Well, I never really hold my birthdays at very high regards as nothing special really happens. It has always been just another day which just happens to make me a year older.
It has been an awesome week though with four days off from work. Sleeping through most of the day, two Christmas parties, a Funeral for a Friend concert and a day of Guitar Hero 3 and pizza. Oh, and a day did not pass without any alcohol passing through my system.
Friday night was a Christmas party for Pinoys at Watford. It wasn’t so great. The food contained a few things which I never liked about Filipino dishes, too much oil, salt and fat. Drinks were aplenty thought, a good thing at first which turned out to be pretty bad as I got quite wasted. Thankfully, the carpet in my room is dark colored as it was hard enough getting puke with red wine removed.
On Saturday night, I was at the most wicked and posh Christmas party I have ever been. Company Christmas party with a 1920s theme though I “simply” wore a suite which I have to say looks quite good on me. Pretty sharp and sophisticated. Loads of wine and champagne, finger foods, and a nice buffet dinner. Music was a little off but it was still fun partying with people you’d never see at work and people you’d see at work but never wearing more than a shirt and pants. The chocolate fountain was awesome and should be a requirement at any party. Also, it is very classy drinking wine and champagne while talking to colleagues all dressed up in suits.
Funeral for A Friend was up for a second night at London Astoria on Sunday which I was quite thankful for since there was the Christmas party on Saturday. I was also able to sell my Saturday ticket at the last minute which went back to the band anyway in the form of payment for a band shirt. I won’t go into the details of the gig as I’d say pretty much the same things which I always do but I really loved the venue being smaller than Brixton which happened to be the first time I saw them. Better view this time and a better set if I’d be allowed to say.
As for the birthday, nothing was planned at all except for staying home, ordering pizza, and playing Guitar Hero 3 until my fingers became numb. A few friends came over which was fun but it would better if we had another guitar controller or better yet, Rock Band.
